Blog Info.

Welcome to For Your I.A.s Only, a dramatic exposé of the dark, dramatic and high-octane thrill-ride that is working within the world of Academic Libraries. This blog is about breaking the silence, tearing down the walls, and covertly battling to reveal the stunning secrets that super-injunctionees don’t want you to know about.

This blog is about truth. Justice. And information literacy.

Ok, so, I might be overselling it slightly.

Actually, it’s a blog which began life as a workplace training exercise. True, I do work in an academic library.  And yes, it is about sharing information. Sort of. I mean, I can’t guarantee that every post is going to prove an exhilarating Grisham-esque read (not that I’ve ever picked up a Grisham novel, though I did enjoy The Pelican Brief with Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington); and I doubt there’ll be anything written on these pages to catch the eye of gavel-happy privacy lawyers. But you never know…

(PS: I.A. stands for Information Assistant. They work in the library. It’s a play on words thing, with the James Bond title. Bit of a workplace in-joke I suppose; which I now realise won’t mean much to outsiders. Never mind…)

Well I got the pun! And being serious now, Information Literacy is about getting to the truth and about enabling social justice (via ensuring access to and understanding of information etc) so it all fits..

“It’s a play on words thing, with the James Bond title.” – it worked, i wanted to find a library front line services blog, and For Your IAs Only said it all
